OAS anti-terrorism committee to hold workshop on maritime security in Panama

PANAMA CITY, Panama — The Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a national workshop on “Maritime Security Risk Assessment and Management” from July 10 to 12, in Panama City.

Some 40 representatives of the Panama Maritime Authority and other institutions in the field of maritime security from the Central American country will participate in the workshop.

Experts from the US Coast Guard, Canada’s Border Control Agency, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the private sector will discuss risk assessment and management in their respective countries and institutions, mainly from the standpoint of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code’s (ISPS) established norms and standards. The Panamanian delegation will address mechanisms applied in assessing and managing risk in national port and marine terminals facilities.
